Beauty Role Model - Cate Blanchett

              I was not really sure if Cate's life style would inspire me to get fit and beautiful. She has a very distinct figure, way beyond an average woman and I didn't know if any of her beauty secrets would be useful for me or most of the women out there. It turns out that is exactly the reason why I've decided to include her here in my beauty role model list. Because she is beyond average I believe she has a different beauty routine from other women and maybe I could find more unusual things that other role models from my list would never think about.

             Cate has the kind of skin which is very difficult to take care of and an always skinny body. She is very pale and her skin is very thin, meaning she has to be extra careful with sun light and dryness to avoid damages such as dark spots and wrinkles. So, let's find out what 46 year old Cate does to have a slim and firm body and a glowing skin all the time!



Body
Cate's main exercise is taking care of her children

               Cate likes Pilates, but since she takes care of her four children she does not have much time for this. Then, to exercise she does ellyptical trainning at home. She also tries to avoid or remove stress improving the metabolism and hormones balance. To remove stress Cate loves a good massage (body and face) and acupuncture. Also, although she can not do it at the moment, Cate considers to sleep for at least eight hour a day a real beauty extravagance. As we can notice Cate is not a very gym person, and I believe she keeps such a body all the time because she is not much of a great eater, so let's see Cate's feeding habits.


Food

                There is this interview of Cate with Oprah where a fan asks what is Cate (and Brad Pitt, he was there too) favorite meal. And Cate, after a very long time of deep reflexion, answered "I went through a stage where all I wanted to eat was muesli for three years...And then I went on to sushi, and the first time I felt pregnant I went completely off fish." But if she had to choose a last meal, she said "Probably a bowl of rice"*. So, as we can notice, Cate is not much into food, at least not greasy, sugary food or any of those that make you eat a lot and turn into a big whale. The, in daily life Cate says she eats fruits, nuts, salad , fresh food and avoids red meat, wheat, dairy, sugar, alcohol, potatoes and addictive. That diet is not only for her but also because one of her children seems to have food-related allergies and it is better for him if he eats fresh, organic and non-addictive food. For breakfast she likes vegemite (australian version of marmite) toast and a great cup of coffee. Further, just like the other beauty role models from my list, Cate drinks (hot) water with lemon, first thing in the morning.


Skin


                Cate's daily skincare routine is to mix moisturiser with foundation, rub that in (massaging until the skin absorb the cream, that is essencial for her), mascara and a bit of blush. She also avoid sun and exfoliates the skin everyday. For her, men skin ages better than women's because they shave everyday which end up exfoliating the skin, since she does not shave the face neither day she only exfoliates daily. To exfoliate she uses a home made DIY product, macadamia or olive oil, grapefruit juice and sea salt. According to her, the main beauty secrets to her skin is consistency, find the exact moisturiser and eye cream that works for you and stick to them. According to some of Cate's interview her favorite brand is SK-II, but I will never really know since she has been their spokeswoman for a while. Regarding make-up, Cate's secret – according to her, learned from pro – is lining in the eyes, along lash line, with white pencil to make them look brighter and bigger.


Style


               Cate seems to have a very natural sense of fashion. You will never know if she is just following the trends or dictating them. Because Cate is very slim she goes for more loose comfortable clothes for daily life, it is pretty difficult to see Cate in tight clothes and when she wears them you can see how skinny she is. In formal, but not big celebration, events she often wears good suits. She is very basic with colors, always pale, apart from black which she wears a lot.
And one thing we can notice from Cate's street photos is that she loves purses, particularly big mamma ones, all very classy of course. She seems also to like glasses, big ones, small ones, dark, regular, colourful, basic, vintage, modern..Regarding the hair, Cate always wears blonde, short to medium size.


Summing up

Cate's main secret is to avoid stress. She does that by trying to sleep and go for massages and acupuncture, body and face. Also she does not eat much, I think she is one of the people who eats to live, and not live to eat; it seems not to be something she does to keep skinny, it is just the way she is. When she eats, she goes only for fresh and organic food, avoiding meat, wheat, potatoes, dairy, sugar and alcohol (althought she loves a good champagne in celebration). As skincare, I considered Cate's main secrets are the daily exfoliation with macadamia oil, sea salt and grapefruit juice and look for the moisturiser and eye cream that works for her skin (by trying and error) and stick to them like forever. With all the research I have made with Cate, I ended up with the impression that Cate is a kind of a Buddhist monk who eats what she needs, live in serendipity and stick to what works for her not to suffer, and maybe that is why she is always so glowing and soft skin ever and such an elegant figure.
